Bloodforged: Under New Management

October 11, 2012 by Jon

Well, who would have seen this one happening. Cauchy is the GM of Bloodforged. Alamexia had indicated to the other officers a while ago (during Dragon Soul) that he was going to step down. He announced his decision for a replacement at the end of our ICC raid that got him [wowhead]49623[/wowhead]. I kind of wish Aenora had gotten it, but I didn’t turn it down. This now means that my entire family are GMs, Gnuck for Refuged and Chliana for The Fighting Murlocs.

My first order of business was to level to 90 which I did in five days (first in guild). Next was to get geared for heroics and run enough to be eligible for LFR. I was able accomplish this thanks to Bruengar ( a friend and former co-worker). Along the way I need to make sure the guild is getting enough to 90 to form a raid team and that those at 90 are getting geared. It is taking a while but I think we’re close to having a group ready to tackle the first raid at the end of this week or on reset next week.

Dragon Soul

October 11, 2012 by Jon

Wow, I pretty much skipped an entire content patch (or several). Dragon Soul turned out not to be as successful as Firelands. A big part of it was the amount the timing (spring/summer) which is always a slow time for the guild. However this time we had a number of players just burn out on WoW and on Dragon Soul in particular. We did manage to go 5/8 on Heroic before Pandaria was launched, but it was tough to get raids for the last couple of months. Hopefully interest picks up for Pandaria.

Finishing Firelands as the number 3 guild

December 2, 2011 by Jon

Bloodforged finished Firelands 6/7 Heroic which made us the number three guild on the server. Cauchy was at all 13 progression kills with the last one being Beth’tilac Heroic. The nerf to Firelands allowed us to spend some time gearing up to be ready for The Hour of Twilight. Several members were able to get to an average item level of over 384. This should put us in a position to roll into the new raid.

Week three of raiding

February 1, 2011 by Jon

Bloodforged continues to do well in progression. We managed to kill Atramedes bringing us to seven of 12 for the tier. We may try to get Chimaeron this week and if luck shines on us maybe even Ascendant Council. If we can do that it would put us in a solid second for Alliance guilds. Here are a few of the first kill screenshots where Cauchy was in attendance (I think he only missed Halfus).

Cataclysm progress

January 21, 2011 by Jon

Bloodforged took a month break from raiding to give members time to level and gear for the new raids. We had hoped to be able to run 25 mans but seem to be lacking healers and enough skilled raiders to pull them off. The officers discussed things after our first night attempting 25 man Omnitron Defense System and decided we should focus on 10 mans for now. Our hope is to have one 10 man progression focused group and rotate the better members in and out of this group. After getting a boss down a few times we would hope to be able to run a 10 man progression and 10 man farm raid. Some officers and members from the progression raid would be in the farm raid to (hopefully) make sure the bosses die again.

After two weeks of raiding this plan seems to be working. The progression team has downed ODS, Magmaw, Conclave of Wind, and Halfus Wyrmbreaker. On Tuesday Cauchy led the farm team (we had only killed each boss once, lol) into Blackrock and got repeat kills on ODS and Magmaw. Magmaw was a one shot after learning that four healers makes the fight stupidly easy. Hopefully the progression raid will get Valiona and Theliona along with Maloriak to put us 6/12 and second on the realm. Not bad for two weeks of raiding.

Also during this time the guild website moved to its new home. It’s a long story with a lot of mixed feelings toward the old webmaster, but Galise and Aenora are on top of things now.

Glory of the Icecrown Raider (10 man)

November 6, 2010 by Jon

Last evening Alamexia, Aenora, Galise, Cauchy, and Mermoramh completed the requirements for the Glory of the Icecrown Raider achievement. As a reward they were awarded [wowhead]51954[/wowhead] in a mail from Darion Mograine:

Cauchy,

As the Lich King’s influence wanes, some of his more powerful minions have wrested free from his grasp.

This frost wyrm drake my men captured is a prime example. She has a will of her own and then some.

One of my men lost an arm breaking one of drakes in, but now she takes to riders fairly well — provided they themselves are skilled and strong willed.

Please accept this magnificent beast as a gift from the Knights of the Ebon Blade. It was an honor to fight along your side in the greatest of battles.

With honor,
Darion Mograine

Also there for the kill of the Lich King to get “Been Waiting a Long Time for This” were Pitchifus, Javasmyst, Peekenboo, Moseley, and Gizmodo. There are a number of other members quite close to getting all the achievements and more drakes will be earned in the near future. It would seem that Heroic Sindragosa will be the most difficult achievement to get for other members. On to the Bane of the Fallen King achievement and a completion of 10 man Icecrown Citadel.

Progress and UI update

July 21, 2010 by Jon

Wow, I really need to update more frequently. Since my last post I’ve become an officer in Bloodforged. Aenora and I lead a 10 man team in the guild’s first Lich King kill (this happened almost two months ago (yep, Armory says 5/22)). This past week we lead a second group to a Lich King kill making it 18 people that have killed Lich King on 10 man.

The guild has cleared all of Ice Crown Citadel up to Lich King three times and had two nights of attempts on Lich King in 25. We also cleared Ruby Sanctum the first week out and gave some tries on 10 man heroic. We also did Marrowgar and Gunship on heroic thanks to Javamyst’s warlock that attended a Lich King kill on his previous server.

Someone had asked about UIs in the guild forum so I shot this last night. I’ll add a list of addons later.

Icecrown and UI refinement

February 4, 2010 by Jon

Bloodforged has been working on Ice Crown Citadel for a number of weeks now (at least 5 since the armory says I have 5 Saurfang kills). Everything in the Lower Spire is on farm status and we are able to knock out those four bosses in an hours with AFKs and such. What has us stumped right now are Festergut and Rotface. Our first Festergut attempts showed that some people were not putting out the kind of DPS they should be for their gear. So, for the past two weeks, we have been attempting Rotface. We seem to be able to consistently get him to around 40% before things just fall apart. It seems to be just general confusion about where to go and dealing with the increasing rate of Mutated Infection. It would be nice to get it before the zone-wide buff, but I doubt that we will.

It is also looking like Rowellend (a person from my wife’s guild) will be getting an invitation to the guild. He did ICC 25 with us this week and had better situational awareness than a number of our regular members. This is in spite of the fact that he hasn’t done any of the fights before and is just starting to use raid frames for healing.

I’ve also been refining my UI. I’m very much inspired by Kripparrian’s UI and am trying to adapt it to the mods I like and my style of play. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I think it is getting close.

Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10 player)

December 7, 2009 by Jon

A while ago I wrote that we needed four hard modes in Ulduar to get Glory of the Ulduar Raider and that we were working on Yogg-Saron on 25 man. Well, we have accomplished both tasks. Bloodforged defeated Yogg-Saron (25 man) on November 22 (the day after the guild’s fourth birthday). We defeated Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood on October 26, Firefighter on November 30, and One Light in the Darkness on December 7. It seems I have been remiss to post these achievements. Seven of us managed to get our Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10 man) with last nights kill. Aenora, Guran, and Kressara each need at least one achievement to get their [wowhead]45802[/wowhead]. I am extremely proud of Bloodforged for being the sixth guild on the server to accomplish this difficult achievement and one of the 14.58% of guilds in the world to accomplish this.
